From Massachusetts and Connecticut, take I-91 north, along the eastern border of Vermont.
From northern Vermont, Canada, and points north, I-91 and U.S. Route 7 each travel one side of the region from north to south. Travelers from Montreal can pick up I-91 by taking I-89 south from Burlington.
From New York City, New Jersey and south: Take I-87 north to Albany in New York, and pick up Route 7 westward to Bennington.
From New York State and points west, I-88 and I-90 both travel westward from Albany; pick up Route 7 in Vermont.
From New Hampshire, southern Vermont can be reached by Route 9, which runs into Vermont just north of Brattleboro.
