Eco-Friendly Adventures in Vermont

VT is a place where nature is revered and eco-tourism is more than welcome

Vermonters are a bit of a special caste upon themselves: their respect for nature –down to and including their beloved farm animals – is legendary. It makes sense, then, that eco-tourism, which is simply exploring without help from motorized vehicles, is welcome and natural in Vermont. For starters, the Green Mountain state’s mountains and river valleys are networked with hiking trails, including the subset world of trails for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Bring your family outdoors and into the peaceful adventures of wandering the countryside, crunching through fallen leaves, picking apples at welcoming orchards, watching bird life, and hearing sounds no louder than footsteps and bird calls. Two passions that now occupy many minds are exercise and fitness, as well as concern for the health of the environment. An eco-tourism adventure serves those goals, and it is also a great way to teach your children love and respect for nature. Who knows; you may find yourselves on a horse-drawn farm wagon exploring a maple tree grove in March or rumbling off to a remote bonfire in the fall. Eco-tourism covers many experiences.
