Trust offers historic homes to serve as inspirational retreats for two to eight people
Stay in a three-story home or carriage house built for Rudyard Kipling, a rustic cabin once part of a sugar-making operation, a farmhouse with apple orchard views or a six-bedroom home built in 1802 where you can walk out the door to hike, bike, ski or snowshoe. Those are the unique options offered by the Landmark Trust USA, the organization that has lovingly preserved these historic Vermont properties, which represent architectural styles from 1802 to 1915. Fully furnished with well-equipped kitchens, bed and bath linens and wifi, the homes, which sleep from two to eight people, are comfortable, inspirational retreats. Two are dog-friendly, and all are close to a variety of outdoor activities. Guests can order a basket of breakfast or dessert goodies to enhance their visit.
