Vermont’s Abenaki Indian Museum is the main attraction at The East Montpelier Sugarhouse
The Vermont Abenaki Indian museum offer the history of the Abenaki Indians it also offers a classroom where various heritage classes are being offered to teach people various skills such as Native American arts & crafts, Abenaki Indian History, Cold weather survival skills, Abenaki traditions, Abenaki Culture and much more. The Abenaki Indians occupied the territory now called Vermont long before Euro Americans settled here and still today there are many Abenakis living here. The Museum Is Free To The Public. We do rely on donations to keep the museum going.

When Vrest Orton opened the doors of The Vermont Country Store in 1946, it was the first restored rural store in the nation. Where else can you buy a wedge of aged Cheddar cut from a 38-pound wheel, a long-lost apothecary item, a red union suit, a Gilhoolie, then fill a bag with old favorites at the candy counter? Stocked to the rafters with practical and hard-to-find merchandise you can¹t find anywhere, The Vermont Country Store has something for everyone. Experience our stores in Weston (Rte. 100; 802-824-3184) and Rockingham (just off I-91 on Rte. 103; 802-463-2224), open daily, 9-5:30.

The Robb Farm, established in 1907 is currently run by Charles Sr., Helen, Charles Jr., and Karen Robb. The Robbs farm on 420 acres and have a herd of 110 Holstein cows, of which about half are milkers. The sugarhouse is a special feature of this six generation farm. The Robb Farm is a working dairy farm and operates year round in all weather conditions. Enjoy the scenic Vermont landscape from the back of a horse-drawn wagon or sleigh by appointment only. The Country Shop is filled with Vermont crafts and the Robb Family Farm’s own maple syrup. During sugaring season, the sugarhouse is open to the public and is part of the farm tour. We recommend that visitors wear boots in the Winter and the Spring.
